Marquee retainer & size question
« on: January 28, 2006, 09:30:34 pm »
I have an old Frogger cab that I am converting into my first MAME cab.   :)

The guy who gave it to me said the marquee I put in should slide into the slot on the top, and then the bottom just rests on the lip of the lower part of the marquee area.  See the attached pic.

Does that sound right or should there be a bottom retainer like there is on top?  Also, when figuring out what size to order the marquee, I know to make sure I account for the slot on top, but what about the sides?  Should it fit snuggly, or should I be leaving a little bit of space on the ends?

Thanks for the help!

My taito has a slot in the top for the marquee to slide into, but then there was a l shaped bar that screwed into the speaker board to support the marquee. It would seem that you just rested the marquee on a ledge, it would fall off during game play. Not to mention (although I will) I think that you would have seen a lot of frogger cabs with no marquees as they would have all been stolen.

Any excellent point that I stupidly missed.   ;)

Looking at the picture again, it looks like there are three holes spaced across the bottom ledge, and in the center there's a little cutout.  To state the obvious, that's got to be where the bottom retainer attached.  Now to figure out what it looked like or whether the retainer from Happs would do the trick.  Thanks again MYX!
