ORIGINS OF THE NEW LIGHT GUN
« on: January 28, 2006, 08:52:18 pm »
Just in case anybody is interested.........

Here are the origins of the new light gun

The Beretta 92FS

Clearly when we compare this to the new light gun it is the same weapon..

ALSO....  There is full justification for using it in full auto mode... (Machine Gun)  As Beretta also made the 93R  the same gun but this version is a full machine pistol conversion with an extended magazine extended cooling barrel and a folding stock. see below:

I know this isn't directly arcade control related, but I thought you guys might like to see them.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

It's kind of funny that they eliminated the Beretta logo from the stock, but left all the maker and model information on both sides of the slide.

Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

OH!! That's interesting Erik... Because the scan of your gun side there, says "Parabellum" that in fact is the 93R Parabellum.... yet it also says 92fs

I think maybe the light gun is suffering from a split personality disorder LOL... :)

I always found machine pistols kind of silly. The cyclic rates are rediculous and clip sizes are tiny. A bit like a penis for the hand... er... you know what I mean.
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

This new gun is plastic or steel ??

For $29USD you need to ask that.... Plastic, like all computer light guns, although I suppose you could always rip the electronics out of one and fit them into a metal replica gun.

Mmmm Now I come to think of it, that's quite an interesting idea, but it might get a bit heavy to hold after a while.

In the other gun thread I linked to the normal version of this gun...Beretta FS92 for the Xbox.  Not a bad gun at all but redundant now I suppose...

Hi MinWah,
The Thrustmaster FS92 is nice... but I don't think it's made by the same people. It's a Beretta licenced product for one thing... Still has all the branding on it. This one has had most of the branding removed, so I suspect it's just been done without licence. I guess being made in China they can get away with that, because their licencing laws are pretty non existant.

You could be right...but this new gun looks exactly like the Thrustmaster one I have, bar the laser sight part.  The Thrustmaster one doesn't have the round badge on the handle (it has a blank circle), but does say 'Beretta' on the barrell...just like this new gun.

Also, while the Thrustmaster doesn't have recoil, the top part of the gun is a seperate  piece of plastic...it looks like it *should* have recoil...

If yew do a search on google, you will find that there were a few lightguns that were based on the 92FS.  It is quite possible that they are all copies of which ever one came out first.  There could even be one factory in China that all of these companies bought the shells from.
