« on: January 28, 2006, 01:24:35 am »
ok i cannot find out information on what that means. are there newer systems that fixed the overheating issue?  if so how can you tell?  is there a born on dating on the system? like beer?  what is second generation? i am more confused and tired of looking.
xbox live forum just have people complaining about issues but nothing about what microsoft has done to fix these issues.

any help would be apprecated.... ::)

I've had one about a month (Best Buy had them out on a table while I was looking to spend a gift card), and haven't had a single problem with the console itself.

I have found a few "bugs" in some of the demos, notably PGR3, which will lock up if you run your car into the wall "just the right way"... However, I haven't ponyed up the $60 to buy a 360 game yet, just playing my old XBOX games and Live Arcade!

The only reason I bought one is because my original XBOX was toasted by a lightning strike!

I've also found XBOX Live is great, especially since it's free to start with...I might actually end up paying for a year of it!  The Media Connection is cool, and the wireless controllers are the best that I've ever used, and I've been playing games since the old Atari 2600 days...

Hope it helps...

reason why i am asking is ebay sellers claim, 2nd 3rd shipment and bug free? how do they know that to make that claim?? some claim second second generation??  i am trying to  figure out how microsoft can fix the overheating issue after only a month after launch. can the folks in china, japan all get togethe stop production and fix the issue?  xboc 360 forum com forum site has complaints of customer service sucks and are clueless, they exchange for new parts still has same issue. sounds like a nightmare...

ive read where folks are using usb 120mm fans to prevent overheating. I plan to get one or 2 as well as use em that whether it needs em or not. Just added insurance to keep her cool. As soon as Freepay starts shippin, ill have mine!!

I got mine on the 2nd launch before XMas and havent had one problem with it.
The longest Ive played was about 4 hours of call of duty online with 0 problems.
I use mine as my DVD player also w/ out a problem.
I say go for it and get the best buy plan for 50.00 and you'll have 0 to worry about for 2 years in go and play some live  ;D

They should be good now.  Initially a small number of systems shipped with memory from a to remain unnamed vendor.  The memory proved to run too hot at target clock speeds so it was replaced with Samsung memory.  Somehow a small number of units with "unnamed vendor" got out the door.

It was only a small number of 360s that had overheating problems.  Just like the nanos with bad screens that got all hyped up.

I've had my 360 for about 3 weeks, works beautifully.  There's suppose to be a big update for the dashboard today.  And the update is suppose to fix some bugs in some games.  I have been able to get perfect dark to feeze the system up once and awhile.

I've heard good and bad things about customer service.  I've heard some people get replacement games for the scratched disc issue.  Read the EULA, it says don't move the xbox while a game is in use, so that is a user error, but I hear M$ was replacing those.

During game play it is a little noisy, the cpu fans kick up.  But it still isn't as noisy as the dreamcast cd player.

Also, it was the power brick over heating for most of them.  They had the power brick on thick carpet.  Don't do that.

I've been playing geometry wars and marble blast more than anything else.  Marble Blast online play is awesome.

Other than a couple of games like perfect dark, condemmed, call of duty, and kameo I don't think the games are worth $60.  I'm waiting until they hit bargin bins.
From the sounds of it there are plenty of live arcade games to be released in the next couple of months.

I agree with surf, the wireless controllers are great.  For me they fit my hands and remote power on is cool.  360 Live is slick, download demos, movie trailers, etc...
