Configuring controls to Crazy climber (got it THANKS!)
« on: January 26, 2006, 09:12:19 pm »
Okay I would like to be able to play crazy climber. I did a search and found that you have to configure something for that. I know you can hit the tab buton whilst in the game and get to a input for this game only. I did that and it shows the player 2 joystick have NONE by them. So my question is what should they say?

Player 1 says
Left/Up - E
Left/down - D
Left/left - S
Left/Right - F
Right/up - I
Right/Down - K
Right/Left - J
Right/Right - L

Shoould player 2 mimick this? Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks

Hit tab whilst in game.
Arrow down to highlight player 2 controls
Select Enter on player 2 up
Move player 2 joystick up..should register on the menu
Continue through down left and right
Hit Tab again
Viola Crazy Climber  is configured
ie same for robotron
Have fun!

It is correct that there is nothing configured for player 2.  Crazy Climber was a two-player ALTERNATING game which means two people never played at the same time.  When it was player 2's turn, he/she used the same controls that player 1 just used.

Make sense?

Alright maybe I can't play! I did what you said Wetworks. It did configure it, but I can only move once! Nothing happens when I use both joysticks. I wonder if the Ipac4 makes it so once you initiate joystick1  joystick 2 wont work?
Any way to get the computer to see it as 2 joysticks for 1 player?

You probably have it set up just fine.  It's just really hard to learn to move the guy in that game.  You sort of have to waggle the two sticks up and down in the right rythym, one after the other.

I can't do it worth a darn.

You're just trying to play one-player, correct?   If so, Wetworks' directions aren't quite correct

Hit tab
Go to "input this game"
P1 Left Up -> Push your left joystick (sometimes known as your Player1 joystick) up
P1 Left Down -> Push left joystick down
P1 Left Left -> Push left joystick left
P1 Left Right -> Push left joystick to the right

P1 Right Up -> Push your Right joystick (sometimes known as your Player2 joystick) up
P1 Right Down -> Push Right joystick down
P1 Right Left -> Push Right joystick left
P1 Right Right -> Push Right joystick to the right

Alright maybe I can't play! I did what you said Wetworks. It did configure it, but I can only move once! Nothing happens when I use both joysticks. I wonder if the Ipac4 makes it so once you initiate joystick1  joystick 2 wont work?

To add to what quarterback said, when you get to Player 1 Left Up, hit the ENTER key before you move the joystick up.  After you hit the joystick up, wait a second and then use the cursor keys to move down to the next one and hit Enter again before moving the joystick.  Continue in this fashion until all controls are mapped.

Yeah!

I really like Crazy Climber, although I feel my abilities have plateaued and I can't really get beyond the 2nd building.  Just hang on tight when you see those flower pots coming!

Crazy Climber is one of my all time favorites.  When the pot is coming, make sure you have both hands in the same column of windows (not one hand over on the next windowsill).  You can have one hand up and one hand down or both up.  If one hand is up and one down, make sure you have the joysticks pushed the same way when the pot hits.  If both of your hands are up, make sure you are pushing both hands up when the pot hits.  This way the pot won't knock you off the building.

You might also try Crazy Climber 2.  It is very charming, but not quite as fun as the original (because that is what I grew up with).

You might also want to try Fire Trap.  It is like Crazy Climber with a fire hose.  Same control configuration.  You don't even need a button.  You push the joysticks towards each other to spray the hose.
