Well, I've done it. I've built clearances too tight into my control panel.
I drilled holes for pinball buttons on the sides. These go through two 3/4" thicknesses of mdf. On one side the joystick is very very close and regular happ competition pushbutton (horizontal microswitch) 1-won't fit through the hole with the microswitch installed and B-hasn't enough room to install the microswitch with the pushbutton in place.
I looked at the ultimate pushbuttons and they have the microswitch in line with the button axis. It seems to me that this would fit throught the hole with the microswitch installed. Anyone know for sure? The second problem is going to be that, I assume it's longer than a pushbutton with a horizontal microswitch.
Ideally I need a pushbutton that has the microswitch in such a way that I can stick the wires out through the hole, assemble it out side then jam the whole rig back in the hole from the outside. Oh, and the whoel shebang is no longer than 1.5 inches.
help. I'd like to play pinball, but right now my pinball buttons are no more than shear pins holding my CP in place.
