Arcade Ambiance Sounds
« on: February 10, 2003, 10:57:52 pm »
I'm searching for some classic arcade background noises in mp3 or other formats. I have a 1 mb mp3 file with a mixture of Frogger, Berzerk and Galaxian in it. I don't know the original name of the file but there's supposed to be a much larger sized version of it floating around. Does anyone know of any sites with that sort of thing?

James made what I consider one of the bests mp3 loops for my fe...you can find it in the arcades\arcsound folder of the fe.

Yeah a while back someone posted about a very long mp3 on the fun/fluff forum maybe you can check the archive there...

Thanks, that's exactly the kind of sounds I was looking for. ;D
Here's a link to the arcade sounds I've been using, a larger version exists somewhere.

Anybody know how to run an Mp3 in the background while scrolling through the game list in ArcadeOS 2.5? It would be cool to play the arcade ambience mp3!

The arcade ambiance mp3 I was originally looking for was reposted on alt.binaries.emulators.misc. The files name is "Arcade Ambiance mp3", it's a multi part rar about 80mb. Over an hour of classic arcade sounds.

If you want a short sound for each game that will play when that game is selected in the menu, just use Sound Recorder and a loopback plug in your sound card.

Actually, i think that lots of people would use these types of sounds once they were recorded and made available.  Looks like you just volunteered for the job.  ;D

or if you have an SB live, set it to record 'What u hear'.

I found some .wav files on my Dreamcast version of Midway's Greatest
Arcade Hits Volume2 (it has Moon Patrol, Paperboy, 720, Spy Hunter,
Rampage, and Gauntlet). There are 25 tracks... I don't recognize some of
them. They sound like they are ripped straight from the original ROMs. A
bunch of them might be from 720. I coverted them to 192kbs MP3s. The
Peter Gunn from Spy Hunter theme is 7.5 MB! These might be cool to play
in your gameroom or something.

Maybe this has been done before and these MP3s are already available
online. If so, let me know. All 25 MP3s are over 37.5 MB. If someone has
a website/ftp server to put these on, let me know and I'll upload them.
