Just got my new microswitches...question and a picture!
« on: January 20, 2006, 08:51:31 am »
Hey all.

I just recieved my new microswitches, with levers. I've taken a picture
of them lying next to each other.

The levers on the new ones are too long, can I just cut them off?
And is there anything else I should think about? The connect points
aren't in the same place, only the ground. - they couldn't think about
reversing them all of a sudden, could they? -  :)

(the red are the old, the grey the new)

Thanks!

Nicholas

Yeah, you can cut the actuator down to size, even bend it, it's just a piece of metal that activates the switch.  As for the connectors, go by the markings on the side of the switch, thay should show you what each tab does, and just wire them up to match.
Back for nostalgia, based on nostalgia.

Yes, you can just cut them.  That's what I did when I replaced my switches on my T-Stick Plus to Cherries.  Use a pair of side cutters and it's pretty easy.  Ditto on the connectors.

I found the T-Stick Plus a little too tight for my tastes, but the Cherries helped a little bit.  You can take the switches off and push them with your finger and tell a world of difference how much more pressure it takes to activate the original switches vs. the Cherries.
