the top part 4.5"X47" and the bottom part is around 33"X3.5" . I just can't get the sides right.

im trying to have a slope of 1 inch? so any helP?

Don't build the control panel with the slope. Build the bottom part 33"x4.5. Then build whatever the control panel is sitting on (pedestal, cabinet) with the slope.

It would make more sense to slope the control panel box...

well my plans are based on lusid except for control panel. im sort of leanin on makin the slope on the cabinet itself. it is a pain to make 6 peieces sloped on control panel or if there is a technique some has :)

If you can't figure out the angles build the bottom box square. Then use a chalk line from the top rear corner to the front edge at the wanted height of the front of the CP. Then cut the box along the line. Not totally accurate but much easier.

Make just the CP slanted. You will kick yourself if you make the cab slanted. A full MDF cp with box is heavy. If you are trying to make it removable it will mean trying to hold it onto that slant while securing it somehow, which raises another problem. How are you actually going to secure it on there tight enough to keep it on? Gravity does most of the work when it is just sitting on a normal shelf, but it will want to slide down the slant. Most of the time, my CP isn't even strapped down (on my Lusid design cab).

There is a reason you don't see many cabs with the entire CP box slanted.

I have pics on how I did it.  If I don't have them loaded on my computer yet, I will tonight.  I made the front and the back, then added the sides.  Once I had that accomplished, I tacked a straight piece of wood that ran from the front to the back and used a flush bit router to cut the wood.  Made a perfect line that was in line front to back.  I did find the pics, too lazy to edit this, hope this helps:
1st pic is with one of the side pieces in and routed already

2nd pic is showing how I mounted the piece of wood as a guide

3rd pic is of the last piece in right before I added the guide piece

  • That's just dumb!
It's definitely worth the extra time and planning to slant the CP box rather than the cab. You don't want your cab to look saggy.

Show us all the shape that you want to make your CP look like.

There's a definite difference in sloping a CP based on the shape of it, which you need to alert us about before you listen to someone's advice when they have no idea what you're trying to accomplish, specifically.

Use MS Paint to draw your shape, if need be.

 :P to Drew! ;D

He's right though, I shouldn't throw my two cents in without knowing what exactly you wanted.

PICTURES ARE ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO GIVE US, EVEN CRAPPY CAMERA PHONE PICS!

Give us a pic, and suggestions and tips can be offered that you never DREAMED of doing with your original design.  Just look at Pixelhugger's cab.  He wanted to get a shelving unit from Wal-Mart, and look what someone talked him into!  ;) ;D ;D
