$200 is not firm but $100 is not acceptable.
First, Hotrod is Burger King. Basically, third-rate fast food. How many gerbils have to die for that 99 cent cheeseburger? If that's what you like, I'm not stopping you.
I think the DreamArcade parts are better than Happ. But how can you compare identical pieces of high impact plastic? Cherry micro-switches are certainly quieter than the DreamArcade switches.
Next, the GP-Wiz32 is the best PCB, period. The gamepad is superior to keyboard chips. Faster response time. For fighting games, that's critical. By being a gamepad instead of a keyboard encoder, people can walk in and bang the buttons without killing whatever you're doing. By being a gamepad instead of a keyboard encoder, you won't be locked out of games that restrict the shift, control, alt, spacebar or enter keys for mapping.
Those controllers are not sufficient for two adults playing side by side. While the top panel of Hotrod and X-arcade is 24 inches, the chassis is only 20. That's why those controllers feel close together.
Do you really like the button layout of the Hotrod and its brother, X-Arcade? Do you really like their color schemes? If you are going to modify your controller in some way, it's not going to work with Hotrod or X-arcade.
As for slikstik... I don't want to knock it but "one box fits all" is only slightly less ridiculous than the three week delivery time. The footprint is absolutely huge. I hope you have desk real estate for the money saved. But slikstik has cnc tooling. That has to count for something.
This is a fantastic controller. Get your Hotrod if you must. I am unlikely to go below $175 unless you throw something else into the deal. I need 2 49 way controllers for my next project.
Maybe we can work something out with my X-arcade-based controller. Looks the same but with rounded edges. I have pictures and the usb, xbox and PS2 adapters to go with it. $150. PM if interested.
