Buttons not working on control panel, IPAC4
« on: January 16, 2006, 04:09:40 pm »
Hopfully someone can help me.

I am using an IPAC4 to wire a 4 player slikstik like control panel that I created from scratch.   Everything is wired up and working with the exception of 6 buttons.   The six buttons are buttons 5,6,7 on players 3 and 4.       Everything else works great.

I have double and triple checked my wiring.  Everything looks great.  Everything is wired with a ground and all wiring is plugged into the proper NO port on each switch.

I have searched all over this forum and others trying to figure this out with no luck.

Also the LED lights on the IPAC4 are solid green all the time...is this normal?

Ultimarc doesnt say anything about this...The chart says stuff about flashes and what not but nothing about solid green.  Says just normal maybe...i dunno for sure.

Anyone have any idea on this one?   Please help me out.  They may not be of any help but here are some pics.

"buttons not working"... does that mean when you press a key... the ipac does not send the keycode or your program/mame/fe does not recognize the key?

You should be able to launch notepad... press the key and it should come out.  If that's the case then check your ipac mapping against the program/mame/fe having the problem  :)

BTW: solid green... is good... and mame (if you are using it)... does not map all the keys by default, this has been discussed on this and the ultimarc forums as well.

Thanks for your reply..

When I open notepad...those buttons do not function at all..they put nothing on the screen.  I think its odd that its the same three buttons on each of players 3 and 4 otherwise id automatically think its a wiring problem.

Its really weird...because earlier in the day when I accidentally had a couple of switches on the NC instead of NO...I would press one of those buttons and it would just go crazy.  tons of letters and such would appear on the screen ...alot of spaces and backspaces as well.  Well after I fixed that little problem everything was great except these 6 buttons mentioned..
buttons 567 on players 3 and 4....here is the button layout for each player.

  456

Any other suggestions?

This is normal.  Please review this link and you will see that they are not set by default.

You can program them via the software that comes from Andy or download it off the web.

Thank you very much,  I found that out right before your post...I had read ultimarcs website twice but kept using the other downloadable programs instead of the CTRL ALT P .   After finding this ...everything now works perfectly.  Thanks so much for your time.
