Suggestions for removing artwork from cocktail glass?

I've got a cocktail kit.   I got a piece of glass for the top.    That piece of glass came from a ___  ___ cocktail cab and has some badly flaking ___ _____ artwork on it.

Byond the fact that it's badly flaking, it was a horizontal game so the screen 'opening' isn't even going the right direction for me.

There may be some kind of hue and cry that I would remove the original artwork.  If there is such a hue and cry, I'll make it clear that I'll gladly exchange this used ___ ____ cocktail glass for a nice new unpainted one.  But I'm not really sure there's any interest.  So that notwithstanding, this thread is really just a request for suggestions for the easiest way of removing the existing art/paint.    I figure there's a "scrape it off" method, but I'm hoping for something that requires less brute force and is less likely to scratch up the bottom side of the glass.

Go to the hardware store and in the paint section buy a can of Jasco Speedomatic paint remover and a cheap 1" bristled paint brush to apply it with.

Brush the paint remover on the painted artwork liberally in one direction only. Let sit about 10 to 15 minutes. Wipe of with a wet sponge. Problem solved.

I scraped the pacman paint off one of my glasses using windex and a razor blade.  The windex helps lubricate the razor.  Sounds like Ken's method would be easier.

Ken's specific chemical remedy sounds like just what I was hoping for.  I'll hunt down some "Jasco Speedomatic".

Now that I know the answer to my question, I'll reveal the fact that the cocktail glass is from an "Omega Race".  I await the potential onslaught of "Don't you dare remove the artwork!" posts.

I think they changed the name now to Jasco Paint and Epoxy remover. I just bought a fresh can today.

I am amazed you have an old cocktail glass thats worth using at all.  I have an old Galaga glass top that is so scratched I can't even imagine how it got that way.  I even tried taking a key to it to see how easy it scratches and...nothing!  So I keep it around for when my kids want to play with playdoh or I need to do some soldering on our countertop.

Yeah, it's pretty scratched up and, I agree, I'm not sure how the biggest scratch(es) got in there.  But the price was right and I'm actually hoping that I can flip it use the 'artwork side' on top after I remove the paint.

I haven't put a monitor behind it, so maybe the larger scratch(es) are going to bug me from either the top or the bottom, but I'll have to see.  I just didn't want to spend $85-$100 on a new tempered glass top.
