  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I would like to procure a Leland spring control for my CP.  Does anybody have one they would like to part with?

Thanks,

Jason

That would be cool on a cabinet, these games don't play right without them.

They turn up on ebay fairly often, too.  Usually go cheap.

Here's a pair if you don't mind paying for the control panel too.

Of course, then you would have to figure out how to hook them up to a pc and get mame to use them.

Check out this thread:

Wiring Leland spring joysticks

BTW, are these games any fun?  I never played them in the arcade.  How do these controls feel?  What does the spring do, return to center?

I used to have a world series, it is a lot of fun.  The controls feel very natural, as well.

For batting, the stick is held forward by default.  You pull the stick back, and also control the height of the swing.  When you release, the batter swings along that plane.

Pitching is reversed, I believe, with you holding the stick up, and releasing it to throw the pitch.

Keep an eye on Ebay.  I think I got a complete World Series control panel for $0.01 (plus shipping).  In fact, I barely even wanted it, I don't think I bid more than a dollar.  The show up on Ebay fairly regularly, and I don't think you'll have much competition.
