Any Arcade Auctions in Oz??
« on: January 10, 2006, 04:54:22 pm »
As per the topic. Anyone seen any arcade auctions in Australia?

The industry is DEAD here, I was talking to the guy from AMOA (Amusement Manufacturers Organisation of Australia) and they dont seem to have it together. Rather than moving some of their target market to home users and collectors, they'd rather abandon arcade machines entirely.

With arcades closing every day, you'd think there would be a crap load of machines out there that noone wants.

So back to the topic.. anyone know of any arcade auctions in Australia? Preferably NSW.

Anyone know of some auctions over here? I would like to know about them too. There used to be an aus BYOAC group, but I think it has since died. You can find it here.

There's been a couple of auctions in Adelaide in the last year or so, but most of the stuff has been overpriced and of variable quality. Guess it's a reflection of the organiser of said events, or so I've heard...

I used to live opposite a guy who had a business distributing vending and arcade machines, but the arcade cabinets went out in favour of 'skill' testers some time ago :P

I have found an online place; unfortunately (fortunately for me :P) it is located in Brisbane, though some of the sellers are elsewhere. It's a bit pricey but the quality is there. It's called Arcade 80s; you can find the buy/sell page here.

ozStick is a bit expensive but Chris is very helpful if you have any problems. I have bought all my parts from there. Haven't heard of highway before though. If you need any help with the electronics/programming you can pm me.

I've bought both of my cabs from www.greysonline.com.au

Subsribe to their newsletter and you'll be notified of upcoming traditional auctions. There is always one distributor who has an annual auction and the odd one occassionally usually in Smithfield and Revesby (both in Sydney)

I picked up a working Space Ace cab with Violence Fight (shudder) in it for $75.00!!!

I also bought a working NeoGeo cab with 27" monitor Fatal Fury 3 for $300.00 neat. At that last auction a LOT of cabs were not sold and one guy just went up and made really low offers on all of the remains the cheeky beggar. He got them too! I would have but I was moving and could not store them =(

Unfortunately I moved to Brisbane late last year and there is no where up here I've found that sells them at a reasonable price.

Cheers,

Brad
