MiniPac Harness vs. Ultimarc Trackball?
« on: January 09, 2006, 11:10:56 am »
So I got my MiniPac and wiring harness as well as an Ultimarc Trackball...  I'm confused what to connect where though, since the MiniPac supports Trackball and Spinner, yet the harness only provides 2 of those type of connectors (not counting the extra set which is for power and connects elsewhere on the miniPAC.  I thought it would have 3 (2x for trackball + 1x for spinner).

One of them can be connected to the trackball for a single axis of motion but the other does nothing.  It seems like I may have the wrong harness?  Or am I supposed to hack apart the one that doesn't do anything in order to wire it to the two sets of wires that came with the Trackball?  I had assumed it would just be a push-on sorta thing rather than having to splice stuff.

Email Ultimarc itself.

Here is a pic of a connected trackball.  Notice how there are 2 connections on the Mini-pac and the connecting cables that came with the trackball have been removed completely.

The "one axis reversed" problem is fairly common, so I have added an explanation of how to correct this to the Mini-PAC wiring page: http://www.ultimarc.com/mp_inst.html
Hope this helps, drop me an email if not.

thanks!

here's the post.  I tried this last night and it fixed it - just had to be sure I followed the wires back to the board so I could tell which to swap since some people said to swap the middle ones and the diagram implied swapping the outer ones.  Swapping the middle ones worked.  Sounds like there must be two different harnesses or something and I just ended up with the Happ one?  in any case by just crossing/splicing the wires all is now sound!
