Where to get microswitches with levers?
« on: January 06, 2006, 07:48:25 am »
Hi all!

I bought a set af Happ Comp joysticks for my machine, but I must admit
that I find them too loose and longthrowed for my taste :-[ Also, return-to-
center isn't very forceful. The stick will vibrate in the middle long after
release.

The original sticks that was on the machine was extremely shortthrow,
and my wife likes the design way better than the Happ Comps. These
sticks used those microswitches with 'levers' on them, but they were
pretty beat up, especially on player 1 ;D...these sticks have VERY STRONG
return-to-center. BAM they're solid in the middle, no vibration.

So, if i wanted to take the happs off, and get the originals back on, where
could I buy new microswitches with levers?

Thanks,

Nicholas

In the UK www.maplin.co.uk sell microswitches with or without levers which I've used in the T-Stick plus.

or try in USA

Try a google for microswitches

Thanks!

Are these the same quality etc. as the cherrys?? Do all microswitches follow
the same standard, I mean, with holes in the same places!?

Thanks,

Recycle the levers, or actuators.

Pretty much all cherry switches are not riveted shut, so you can pop the switch right open with your fingers. Actuator falls off, re-install on next switch. Since it's the same plastic mold for all types of microswitch, the socket for the lever is already there.

I'm using Happ supers on all my controls, and replace the switches with the same ones that pushbuttons use. I've had to fix other people's supers, and lots of comps, but never my own. The stick is very reliable and smooth.

But the super has the same problem the comp does. If you tend to let go of the stick, it will bounce around. The super is a lot softer, while the comp is springy and loud.
An ounce of image is worth a pound of performance.
