Just make sure all of your screws/fixings are far away enough from the edge you are routing. Routers spinning at x'000rpm dont seem to like cutting through screws!
Also some people like to route the same groove from both sides of the material to make sure the slot is exactly in the center of the material. As long as you are happy with setting the router dead center you should have a problem, just make sure you set up and test cut using a scrap piece of material.
