Sweet Mario Game
« on: December 30, 2005, 07:41:08 pm »
I can't remember the thread to post games for your cabinet in, but I've found a sweet Mario game that's keyboard customizable. I have not tried it in my cab yet but it should work. It's called Mario Forever, here's the link:

This game makes you install a spyware ridden toolbar, and is it me or is there no way to exit the game itself?

No thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. I downloaded it, but didn't install yet.
I have to really be careful with that kind of thing because I'm running an old build of XP (Service Pack 1) with all the Services gutted out of it, and no spyware or virus protection, no firewall, etc.

The machine is very lean, but also very susceptible to all of the worms and malware out there, since I don't keep it updated.

Well I haven't seen anything supsicious yet but I have those protections installed on the machine I'm running it on. I certainly hope it doesn't screw yours or anbody else's machine up. That crap can be hard to detect sometimes.

Weird! I didn't get no Mario tool bar  ???  I don't remember if it was an option or not, but you are right, definitely not worth having one of those on your system!

Please anyone else BEWARE!!!!

FWIW, I didn't have the option to disable it.  The game wont run without it and if you uninstall the toolbar, you MUST uninstall the game as well.

Very shady, and very user unfriendly.

well i like the game but I hate that toolbar. After I uninstalled it ad-aware found 10 critical objects (spyware) Does anyone know how to get rid of the toolbar?
I don't know if you know this but I'm sort of a big deal. I own many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

uninstall it. its in Add/Remove programs.  Then run adaware and spybot again, and look through your registry for any stray entries.

actually I know how to uninstall the toolbar and spyware just like you said, what I meant was that I would like to be able to play the game without the toolbar. I thought there may be a way to get rid of just the toolbar.

I still don't know what the heck you guys are talking about. I can play it just fine. No toolbar on my system, and no spyware that my pest removers can detect. What O/S are you all running on your systems? Mine is XP pro. Though I don't see what difference that should make.....Maybe my removers are old or weak or something. I dunno.

you must have an old or different installer than.  OS makes no difference, but I"m on XP pro as well.

When I installed the game, it blatantly made you aware that you had to dowload a "Mario Toolbar"  You had to check that you understood you couldn't uninstall it without uninstalling the game and it was to "help the development" blah blah.  The game would not install unless you agreed to this.

It pops right up in IE and cannot be shut off unless you use it 3 times.  Even then, you can't uninstall the bar without losing the game.  I use FireFox, but I checked IE to see it... its there.

If you have an installer without it, let me know.  You have to have something different though, as there was no way to opt out of the toolbar with my installer.

OK. I got it in a zip file. You want me to email it to you? It's almost 26MB. Otherwise how should I get it too you?

If you find something like spyware in it be sure to let me know, and I'm sorry if I've caused anyone probs, that definitely wasn't my intention.

you definitely got a different file than I got.

I'm not sure how you'd be able to share it with people with that file size though... most ISPs wont' allow a 26mb attachment.  You'd have to find a host somewhere.

cool. that worked for me.

One question though... how on earth do you exit the game??  ESC doesn't do it, I can't find a menu, and there's no documentation to speak of about controls.  The only time I can exit is at the first menu screen.  I'm sure I'm just an idiot and am missing something obvious...

yeah, that works, I tried it before.

I was more hoping there was a nicer way to exit for possible use in a cab as I have no reason to use an F4 key on my control panel.  I haven't found it yet though.
