histview problem/question

I'm having a problem using histview.  I've got mamewah set to launch it when I press the left control button.  I'd like to set the alternate escape key in histview.ini to also escape when I press left control.  The alternate escape works if I use a value of 127 (tilda in keycodes.txt) or lower, but anything higher it won't escape (unless I press the actual escape key.)  Keycodes.txt says I should use 307 for the control key.  Anyone know how I can make this work?
