Molex Connectors Where to find?
« on: April 18, 2002, 12:55:48 pm »
I must not be looking in the right places. All I can find are 6, 8 12 pin molex connectors.
Ive seen a few projects using 36pin ones but havent been able to find them.
Any ideas?
need 2 female 28+pin and 3 male 28+ pin or
        1 female 56+pin and 2 male 56+ pin
Also are they solderless?
Still trying to avoid solder if at all possible.

Thanks for all the help so far, parts are starting to come in and the wood is starting to be cut.

About the only connectors I have heard of that big are the Molex edge connectors.  Bob Roberts has some connectors listed on his Connectors page

Look in the phone book and look up any telephone system sales company that actually installs the systems. I worked for years at a place in California and during an install they would go through up to 30 of the connectors. They punch them down for phone connections. The cool thing is that they sometimes use sets that have connections on both ends. Usually they just throw the peices that they don't use away. This can be all the way up to 50 pair.
or you could go to the molex web site.

Good luck

I found mine at radio shack, they had 2,3,4,6,9, and 12 pin conectors.  They came in male or female, my mistake was thinking they whole set came together so I had to go back for more.  They had ever thing I needed for my cab.

How about using some spare IDE cables laying around?
Where could I find male sockets for em with places to solder/connect wire?
3 people at work swear they've seen them before but don't know where.
Thanks,

Jim
