ok i'm going with Happ's Ultimate Joystick and Pushbutton. i would like to hear people's oppions and experiance. the games i want to play are fighters like SF2 so i need the 8 way, also I want to play ZSNES/NES games(i know about MAME support). i'm going to rewire  a usb controller to the buttons and joystick. the controller is 8 directions, and has 10 buttons. i know for SNES i will need 6 buttons for a,b,x,y,l,r for both players. then select and start. so thats 8 buttons per player.but for arcade games i figued i could use the start button for the coin button.

No problem there. Just go into Zsnes's Gui Config and change buttons 1-5. They are currently selected to disable background layers, but they can be changed to a different key or turned off altogether.
