Router bit for T-Molding.
« on: February 03, 2003, 03:22:28 pm »
I am currently building my own MAME cabinet and soon will need to router the edges of the frame for t-molding.  My question is what is the exact name of the bit I need to make the grove on the edge (in other words, if I walk into Home Depot and up to a clerk, hwat would I tell him to find this bit?).  Also can the same bit that routes a groove in 3/4" MDF be used to route a grove in 1/2" MDF.  Thank You.

Ask for a 1/16" notch bit. If you don't already have one you'll need a shank to hold the bit too.

You use the same router bit for either thickness of wood, but you'll need to adjust the cutting depth on your router so the notch is cut in the center of the wood.

Thanks,
Rob

This recent thread discussed several good places to get the bit that you need.
