coin door frame

I was going to cut the hole for my coin door today when I realized that my coind door had no fram around it. which would mean that I need to screw the hinge directly into the wood. I don't really think that would look very good and not how they are supposed to be. Anybody have any idea for a cheap alternative in manifacturing a frame that would loog good?

Could you "tak-weld" some type of bracket onto the back so you can errrr... mount it from the rear?

First I would clean that Puppy up! Peale has a good tutorial over on his website...I tried looking for it but could not find it.

My Happs Over/Under door is secured with these metal clips secured into screw holes, maybe you could do something similar?

Instead of fabricating a frame which would probably entail endless trips to Homedepot and tons of wasted time I would look for a cheapie on greedbay with a frame.  Seems like you can usually pick one up for a few bucks which  is what it would cost to rig up a frame.  Also I  would throw a poll on here with your options so everyone could vote and decide what to do for you.

Sorry,  while I love mind-numbing trips to Home-depot as much as the next red-blooded american I was figuring the time would be better spent on constructive cabinet making.  I figured that beings as MC lives in the boonies the nearest HD is like at least 15 miles and with gas being as expensive as it is......

Maybe you should just make a recess where the hinge goes so its flush with the door front, and use "designer" screws. It may not look so bad as you think, and it's more simple.

well I'm down to two alternatives.....

1) use the over under door that was ment for my Crystal Castles restore.

2) Search Home Depot and lowes endlesly until I find a solution.

C) wait till I save enough scratch to order a new coin door.

The coin door in your pictures is a "Coin Controls" brand and is manufactured to metric standards. There are no known substitutes to fit that door. You must find another Coin Controls door & frame assembly. Why didn't yours come with a frame?

It was like this when I got a hold of it I found it in a building that used to be an arcade. The building was getting ready to be demolished and I talked a guy into letting me in to see what I could find. That was the only thing I found.
