IR device that can store commands?

I'm looking for a device that can power-up when the computer powers up that can store the "power-on" signal from my remote control for my TV. I would like this device to be able to understand keypresses from my remote control and I would then mount it in front of my TV's IR port. The idea is to have this device power on and then through IR, power on the TV through the one-pushbutton-setup I used in SpyStyle's guide. I'm trying to avoid any extra buttons to push. I have considered hacking a remote control and mounting the PCB in there so I could short-circuit the button that activates power.

If I understand your question correctly JP1 remote controls are capable of sending numerous commands to numerous devices with one button press.

Hmm.. Did some initial research and IR blaster seems like a great idea. I'll have to do some more research since this is a new area that I am not familar with

After some research, it seems ten times easier (and cheaper) to just have a remote control nearby and a small area exposed on my bezel for the controller to reach the IR receiver.
