Anyone know if this was an original part that was installed on a Pac-Man cabinet?  This piece came with my cabinet, but I thought it might have been used for the Ms. Pac-Man conversion.  If it was OEM how do you keep it in place between the bezel and the top glass?

I'm assuming that what you have is a piece of plexi attached to a plastic frame that matches the curves of the CRT.  That frame was stapled or screwed to the woodwork on the sides of the CRT.

The plexi is a original piece.

Mine was secured with electrical tape.

U serious? lol Midway used electrical tape to secure the tinted plexi to the plastic monitor bezel?  How ghetto is that? In any case, does anyone have any better ideas on securing this or has anyone  used a particular method that works? Buckethead? whatcha got for me?

I don't know if it was originally secured with electrical tape?

But when i took apart everything and cleaned it.

Electrical tape is what i used secure it back to the bezel.

Maybe they used some other sort of black tape?

Who knows?

But i know the tinted plexi glass belongs on it.

Because mine says ( copyright 1980 Bally Midway ) on it.

I thought about leaving mine off one time.

But stepped back and looked at it. And it looked like Crap with it off !

What was yours secured with? Before you removed it ?

Here is a link where smoked plexi is sold.

The description on the website says they are used on MS. PAC-MAN / GALAGA

They are $15.00

It was loose when I obtained the cabinet.  The cabinet had been converted to a Ms. Pac-Man so I thought this piece might have been from the conversion.  I did notice remnants of some kind of tape, but I thought that was just the handywork of some inventive arcade operator.  I guess I'll see if I can come up with a better way to secure it other than electrical tape.  I just can't bring myself to use electrical tape in this application.

I think you will end up using electrical tape.

There are not really that many choices that are black.

It's not really bad.

You can't even see it.  When everything is put back together.

It's your choice though?

It worked great for me!  :)
