Happ USB Trackball vs Optipac Combo
« on: December 13, 2005, 12:40:26 am »
Interesting conundrum I face. Anyone have any opinions on the following:

 Happ USB/PS2 trackball unit -OR-
Happ Trackball plus Optipac.

Price through Ponyboy is roughly equivalent. I'm more wondering if anyone has any input on performance of the optipac vs Happ's interface.

Opti-PAC is probably more flexible because you can hang 2 trackballs and 4 spinners off of it.  Plus it has that auto-switching thing that only activates the first device moved (check out the Opti-PAC documentation for more info).

On the other hand, USB is far easier to hook up and if you're thinking of picking up a SlikStik Tornado spinner (or two), they cannot be directly connected to the Opti-PAC without a bit of hacking.

Personally, I own an Opti-PAC.  But I like to tinker.  USB is just too easy.   ;D

I've got two of the USB trackballs and they work very well for what that's worth.

Might be a day late and dollar short with my two cents, but we're using a Betson Imperial USB purchased from DreamArcades.... cost less than Happs, 3 inches, and so far (since summer) has held up under extreme play very well (myself and my 3 year old)!!
