Ok, I got the joystick pulled apart up to the rubber dohickey.  Shouldn't the red ball top just slide out after that or is there some other fastener I am missing?  Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Jarrett

If it's an old stick, the "rubber doohickey", which should have a metal core, is probably rusted tight to the shaft.

yeah, I think it is an old stick because the "rubber dohickey" does have a metal core.  I thought rust might be the culprit.  I'll try the oil and let it soak in like "Robotussin" and see if that frees it.

You gotta work the tussin in.

I used penetrating oil and it still wouldn't budge. I cut the metal core open with a dremel disk.

Do yourself a favor and get one of these.

http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=JOYRBSUPER

I did and it works great !

It is the kind they use on the new MS. PAC - MAN / GALAGA reunion cabinets.

I plan on installing one in my GALAGA once i get it restored.

Oh yeah i still need to get those paint codes for you!

lol, yeah I'm gonna keep trying to work the "tussin" in and then bust out a puller to do the job.

While that is a nice joystick (I have two), it just does not feel as nice as an original Pacman joystick.

I have to disagree i had a original PAC-MAN joystick.

And while it may have been the bomb 25 years ago.

I just didn't like mine.
