need some info, font used in Ladybug

I am making an bartop arcade box for my aunt for Christmas, she lost everything in Katrina and Rita and has spent the last few months being way too serious, so I am making her a small arcade box with a few games (she only likes about 10 or 20 of the old ones).  To decorate the cab, I would like to use the font from Ladybug, her favorite game, to do the marquee and side art and such.  Does anyone know what the closest font that is available, for free hopefully, on the net.

BTW, we need to mourn the fact that she lost an original Baby Pacman in the hurricanes (I know not many like the game but at least it was an arcade game that was appreciated and cared for, which is rare). This is another reason I am making her the cab, even though she will not be able to play Baby Pacman (was a combo pinball and arcade game), but at least she can play her other favorites; Ladybug, Kangaroo, Bubble Bobble, and several others.

No I am not the text-adventure guy, although I did write software but it had more to do with grade books and test banks. I am also not the Dilbert guy, don't I wish I was (I do like Ratbert though).

Are we talking about the marquee artwork or something similar to the title screen?

The logo on the marquee is some variation of Avant Garde and I'd guess the L and B were drawn custom. These round, sans-serif fonts were very popular throughout the 70's and into the early 80's. Bauhaus is another in that category. Most of us around here would probably think of it as the Atari font.

It's probably easier to modify a font than to hunt down the specific variation. Shoot me a PM with what you're trying to do and I should be able to help you out.

You probably should have posted this in the Artwork forum--that's where most of us typography geeks hang out

Well...it was worth a try. And it seems that even after some cleanup, it detected the word as a number 5. Now if only we knew which font

This is exactly what I want to do, but I can't draw to save my life (I cannot even draw a stright line with a computer).  How did you do the text for this .gif, what font, etc.

The font started out as Avant Garde and was edited to more closely match the Ladybug artwork. It's not really practical to do this for more than a couple words, but for the title I think it's worth it. Normal Avant Garde would probably be good enough for instruction cards, button labels, and that sort of thing.

Artwork was done in Illustrator and saved as a GIF.
