Thinking about building two driving cabinets
« on: December 02, 2005, 08:11:30 pm »
I have finished building the upright cabinet that I was working on for 6 months and am very happy with it.  Lately I have been getting the itch to do two connected driving cabinets run through XBOX system link.

I dont care for the bulky size of most of the large wooden cabs I have seen.  So I was thinking about creating two using steel tubing.  Make it have a real Frame feel to it. have a TV mounted in front with the XBOX below it. Then a wheel mounted in front of that.  I want to use real car bucket seats too.  It will have a nice open feel to it. This will allow it to be moved around easily also.  I will create some Sketches later but just wanted to know what you guys think?  I have seen the one at target that you can use to mount your wheel and petals to but this would be up higher and have a frame feel to it.

Like any input. Thanks

So did you make any head way on this yet? I am just starting to through aroung the idea  of a dedicated driving cab. I too am looking at doing something to accomidate 2 players.

I am still in the search phase and your post is one of the ones that came up. When dealing with a dedicated driving cab alot of questions need to be answered for me. Including but not limited to which platform to use (PC, xbox, ps2, dreamast) the best controls to use.

I am assuming there will be some more info that i find just wondered what progress you have made.

if i had the room, i would do this. It would be sweet since i have  a dash i could hack up, that would work perfect, and a seat that would work good. Maybe in the future.  But i say go for it

I still like the idea of the RaceBase:

I am actually building a 2 seater driving cab that will house a PS2 and eventually adapt for MAME.  If you want to look at it the link is below.  Some interesting and somewhat difficult issues with a 2 person sit down.  Mine will be big and could have shrunk it down but I have the room and wanted a real setting.  If you have any questions on design let me know I had quite a few plans and have thought about many different options.  Lets see your design too.
