Fighter games special move listings?
« on: December 01, 2005, 10:07:39 pm »
Where do you guys get listings of how to do all the special moves for fighter games? I am particularly looking for a Street Fighter 2 CE special move listing.

Thanks.

I heard of this thing called Google once.  Apparently you can search for stuff on the web with it!  Amazing!

I tried it, and it lead me here...

Thanks genius, too bad it says SEGA GENESIS at the top.  ::)

I tried google and all I got was console listings. I did find a good arcade section at gamefaq.com though.

You might check at www.shoryuken.com- they're all about fighters there.

gamefaqs is probably the quickest way to pull one up.

While it could have been said with a bit more tact, it's a general rule of most message boards that you take a bit of effort to look before posting. A search of "street fighter 2 ce moves" on google gave gamefaqs as the 2nd hit.

And the link Elvis took the time to look up for you...Yes, it says SEGA GENESIS at the top. It also has the moves for all of the characters in CE. The FAQ specifies which moves are for Turbo only. It's pretty rare that the moves vary between the arcade and console versions and faqs for the home versions are sometimes easier to find.

Happy gaming! :)

Oh yeah that's right, they changed all the special moves from the arcade to genesis conversion.  ::)

When did people lose the ability to search for stuff themselves?

I've been looking through old Usenet archives, particularly RGVA from the early 90's and a huge percentage of posts dealt with SF2 and move lists; also raging debate over the existence of a hidden character by the name of "Sheng Long", lol, complete with theories on how to reach him and people claiming they saw a nameless someone do it at a local arcade or whatever. Evidently he's an old man with a cane, or a big hairy guy, or looks like a cross between Sagat and Ryu, or something...

Lots of complaining from the "old timers" there about all the SF2 posts and how they should get their own group, lol (which they eventually did as it turns out, and it still exists today, i.e. alt.games.sf2).

The discussions were more interesting and/or different then because there were still so many unknowns. There was no Google + millions of websites to quickly answer nearly any question you could come up with. If you guys have never checked out old Usenet archives, give it a try. It is a lot of fun to see what people were saying on the net about some of your favorite games or consoles or whatever, when they were brand new and all the rage. Google groups searches as far back as 1981, though stuff is a bit sparse from back that far. You can find posts about old consoles like Atari VCS, ColecoVision, Intellivision, etc. I couldn't find much arcade related stuff until around the late 80's / early 90's though.

Good stuff! I should have been more specific in my first post. I was looking for all the arcade moves and the special stuff  like pressing buttons at the end to see credits and things like that.

That forum is pretty crazy. I've been reading the interviews with the former professional street fighter players. Those guys take the fighting games to a whole different level.
