WTB: COMMODORE MODEL 1702 COLOR MONITOR [US-MA]
« on: November 30, 2005, 03:30:19 pm »
Must be in perfect working order, no burn-in etc, no power-issues. Would like to have the exterior in decent condition, from a non-smoking home, with front-panel cover intact.

PM me for a quicker response.

If you're looking for an RGB monitor, you may do as well to try and find a Presentation Monitor.

I'll look into that too, although, the Commodore's have not been as difficult to find as I first thought they'd be. I'm starting to do some NLE (Video Editing) and they've been highly recommended as a cheap alternative with a small footprint (since it's primarily going to be on the desktop). I'll need to snag a S-video to Composite adapter, but from what I hear the picture is good enough that small professional studios still use the 1702 in their setups.

I just got one off eBay for about $10.

Here is one I snagged off Freecycle about a year ago.

Damn, that's HUGE. Was it in good working condition? (curious about these Freecycle deals)

Perfect working order and came with that travel case (which I gave away on Freecycle myself).  The company gave away three of them to three different responders.  The thing was used for vendor presentations and looked like it actually saw little use.

For a small footprint, it is hard to beat the Commodores, though if you're not doing RGB then a quality modern small TV is probably just as good.

I tried to snag a 1702 off Ebay locally myself last year.  The guy told me I could pick it up, I won the auction, and then he wanted a $22 "handling" fee.  I refused and got one of my very few negative feedbacks in the process.   ::)

Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.
