My cab has a 27'' TV, it just barely fits but it fits.  My cabinet was taken directly from the LuSid design (the one described in detail in the Project Arcade book) so you should be able to find all the info you need on that design.

Heres a link to the thread detailing the building process of my cab: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=42011.0

My 27 inch had speakers on the side, it was to fit into a Lucids design also. For this reason it was decased without being discharged.

Details on my site : users.bigpond.net.au/ginno

Hey Guys
Thanks for the quick response..both your cabs turned out great!..I see you both kinda went with Lusids design...my first Demoncade was of that design..I found it to be a little bulky...but I may have to make it that size to fit a 25 or 27" tv. ....The only complaint I had about Lusids design was the control panel did not have very rounded corners and it was difficult to put t-molding on them..did you guys have problems with that?  Anyone have measurments or templates for their cab handy.

I look forward to seeing other projects! thanks alot guys!

No problem here, all you have to do it is cut out a triangle on the piece of t-molding that goes into the wood, this way you can do any sort of angle with no problems.

My old cabinet was based on lusids desgin too.  And the one currently in production is almost the same.  I just changed the measurements to fit a 27" TV.   I have a smaller 2 person control panel so it doesn't stick out.

I installed a 27" TV in a dynamo cab. I had to completely decase it and then the tube was nearly touching the sides. I will never ever install another tube like that again by myself EVER!

<-- also built a lusid cab.

I've had two 27" TVs in it, though one fit better than the other.
On a side note, though, if I had it to do again I'd use a 25" TV instead. I've found it somewhat difficult to keep track of all the action onscreen at once with the larger screen (esp. for games like Robotron), though a little more screen space is nice for vertical games.

I have a 27" tv in my cab.  Own design based loosely around Midway cabs.  TV had speakers either side of the screen and I couldn't be bothered in removing it from the case so the thing is huge.  Link is over to the left <-----

Depends of course on the TV.  I got lucky and happened to find a Magnavox (Philips) 27" that fits perfectly in my Dynamo cab.  Don't have pics of it installed, but the cab is 25-1/2" inside and the TV is about 25-1/4" with the case intact.  The speakers are on the bottom.  Costco sells the identical TV in the Philips flavor with speakers on the sides and it's nearly 30" wide.  I almost got that one (knowing I would have to decase it) until I happened on the Mag...Personally, I really like the size of the 27" screen much better than the original 25" arcade monitor that was mounted in it - makes a big difference in vertical games...

i measured across the front of my tv, and built my cab of that.  it measured out to like 25 in or something so built my cab to 25.5in(+1.5in for mdf) i noticed later (after the cab is built) that the tv bows out on the side making it like 25.75in.  just  a bit two big.  i didnt want to but looks like im going to have to decase my tv.  (or try to dremal out that plastic hump......)

Mine is a Magnavox 27MS3404R, which is really a rebranded Philips (it even has the Philips logo on the back of the case).  It supports last channel memory on power off and also has a component input.  I can't remember off the top if it has the ability to power on with the PC, but I just saw an old thread the other day about bypassing the power button on just about any TV.  As usual, I can't remember where I saw it and can't find it with a search  :-[

You can always do what I did and unplug model TVs in the store (the guy at Circuit City wasn't toooo happy about it but I made it clear that the sale depended on it  :) )

Do a search here for Component Input and there are a couple of good threads about what model TVs will do what...Not sure if those models are still around tho.

I'm using a smart strip so the power to the TV turns on when I turn the computer on.  I think most TVs will stay on the same channel when the power is turned off, but not many will turn on when its plugged in, I know mine didn't.  Luckily theres an easy fix, jam a few toothpicks next to the power button and break them off.  This holds the power button so its always pressed down which then makes the tv turn on when the power comes on.

Or take the less ghetto approach, and just wire an on off switch to it. :P

If the switch is on, then the TV will power on when plugged in, when it is switched off, it will behave normally.

For mine, I wired a 1/8" mono jack to the power button, and mounted it to the back of the TV case. I then ran an on off switch to an easy to access location within my cab. That way I can easily switch the TV to normal operation if need be.

Heeh, that is a pretty good idea, I was struggling with this for a while.  The advantage here is that a pair of hemo's can reverse this if you need to return the TV or what have you.

I was thinking I'd have to cut a remote control hole in the bezel or some such nonsense.

put it on a channel, the while the t.v. is on, unplug it from the outlet, then plug it back in.  you want it to turn back on and keep its channel without you having to push the power button agian.

Well, if you unplug it while it is turned on, and it automatically turns back on when you plug it back in, then that means it would work with a power strip or external power button.

Turnning the strip off is the the same thing as unplugging the TV, so the behavior you observe when testing the display in the store should carry over the same to that situation.
