Mag-Stik from Ultimarc

Mag stik apparently has replaced the t-stik. Now has magnetic centering.

Hm.

I'd have been happy with a lighter spring, but couldn't find one to retrofit to it--the one time I looked.

Sounds interesting, at any rate.

Yes this new stick is rather good although I might be biased ...
By comparison with the T-Stik:
The appearance of the stick is identical  but the difference is that instead of a central spring inside the body which returns the stick to center, it has a flat magnetic plate. This does mean that the main body of the stick is internally different with a larger recess so it's not easy to upgrade a T-Stik to Mag-Stik.
In terms of use, the travel is the same (short) but the spring return action is quite a bit lighter than the T-Stik.

Out of curiosity why wasn't the Magentic variant offered from outset? It is because it costs slightly more, or is there another reason?

I'm thinking it might be more cost effective for you to simply source a weaker spring for the standard T-Stik if people are complaining about the stiffness, unless a magnet gives a better feel to a spring.

Another good thing is that Ultimarc offers the Plus version with ball top.

Open suggestion/request to Andy W.:

I've just used a pair of T-Stick Plus in my new cabinet. I plan to make one small change: Use the 4/8 way slide lever to press a leaf switch and light an LED when it's in 4-way mode.

Having a similar feature built-in to the stick would be terrific.

Awww man. I just received my new T-Stick plus about two weeks ago. I haven't even installed it yet and this comes out. It sounds like it would have fit my needs better. Too bad there wasn't a preliminary announcement.  :(

It won't before Christmas - even if Andy shipped me a stick today, it takes a while to get it from England, and then I'd need to review it, and of course, I'm a bit busy with the holidays and the new site changes.

Yeah, Kevin is so lazy.  I am glad, too.  Who would want to give a hard working guy a bunch of stuff for freebies on his web site?  Hey, thinking of that, I didn't win anything yet!  Dang!

Keep up the good work Kevin!!
