MAME and Nebula (Please move, if in wrong section)
« on: November 24, 2005, 11:47:34 am »
I have Nebula installed on my machine, as well as MAME.  Games like Puzzle Bobble (as an example), doesn't run very well on my hardware, under MAME, but if I run them under Nebula, they work great...
Does this mean that MAME uses up more resources, and my HW can't keep up, or does it mean that I need something else, that is software related, to make it run properly?
Currently running off an AMD 733MHz...

Thanks...

MAME's purpose is to EXACTLY mimic what the real arcade hardware does. That means they don't use any hacks or short-cuts that would improve performance, if it means that it ends up not working true to the original hardware.

Other emulators are designed to just deliver the game experience to players. So they use whatever hacks and short-cuts they can to make it run as best as possible on a PC.
NO MORE!!

That's what I thought...I have a new(er) PC going into my cabinet, as soon as I can get my TV decased and installed...I'm hoping it will play most games...
