Will smaller T-Molding work in this situation?
« on: November 23, 2005, 10:49:43 am »
my mdf is 3/4" + 1/16" laminate+ .090" plexi = ~14.5/16"    this is the size t-molding i need for the control panel. Since i can't find 7/8 or anything close to my size needed (I need red t-molding). My question is will the .090 showing matter much ya think? or does anyone know where i can get 15/16 red t-molding.

thanks

It's usually better to go slightly wider than slightly too narrow. The purpose of t-molding, other than to give a nice finish to the edge is to hide the imprefections of the wood edge and provide  nice clean line.

Now for your case it really depends if your laminate edging is nice and smooth and straight. If so, then going a little narrower might not look bad.
NO MORE!!

Not sure if you can get the size T-molding you are looking for or not, but if you can't, here is a idea that may work. (then again it may look cheesy as hell)

Take a piece of your T-molding and get it color matched.
