Question for Randy T
« on: November 22, 2005, 03:14:09 pm »
Randy,

I am building a stand alone jukebox.  Will the GPWIZMAX work to control VMJ and allow me to also have a usb keyboard plugged in at the same time?

thanks
Scorpio

I currently have a GP Wiz, usb ipac (keyboard), usb keyboard and serial keyboard plugged in (don't ask me why I have 2 keyboards), they all play nicely together.

Mahuti,

Can the GPWIZMAX be programmed like the keywiz products.  I noticed it does not come with software.  How does this work?

There are a couple really great freeware utilities to convert gamepad buttons to keyboard input.  They work so well, there's no point in re-inventing the wheel.

I send them to anyone who requests them, but most are content to just use the gamepad assignments when possible (better for performance to use the native controls.)

Don't know about your jukebox program, but if it takes joystick/gamepad input, it should work fine.  If not, I can send the programs to you.  One or both should work well with it.

And, as Mahuti said, no problems having a USB (or PS/2) keyboard attached.

I quickly found some free gamepad to keyboard converters on versiontracker for use in situations where gamepad input is not accepted. I quit using them though... since I found I didn't need them very often.
