Need advice on what to do with Tempest cabinet
« on: November 21, 2005, 09:00:29 am »
Ok, here is my problem.  I have a star wars XY cabinet that has had a dead monitor for about a year now, i have been unable to find a replacement anywhere.  I know where i can get a good used Tempest cabinet for 300.00 that has a good working monitor, but it breaks my heart to rob the tempest of its life!  does anyone have any ideas as far as a possible project for a tempest cabinet?  Also, if anyone knows where i can get an xy monitor, or a HV replacement for an amplifone, let me know so i dont have to kill the tempest.  any ideas are appreciated.

Same here, if you're near MA, I'm all over it sans monitor.  I have a monitor.

I am in central Massachusetts, i believe i have spoken with ChadTower before regarding my star wars.  anyway, i have not actually bought the machine yet, the machine is complete, good cabinet, nice side art, etc.  The machine boots up and works but has some problems with the controls (i believe it is minor stuff, sometimes the controls dont respond, probobly dirty contacts or something like that).  I have a photo of the cabinet if interested.  If anyone wants to split the cost of the cabinet with me, i will take the monitor and you take the cabinet.  $150.00 each?  Or, if one you wants to sell me your monitor for 150.00, i will let you know where to get the Tempest, same to me either way.  I am just tired of my old star wars not working. Truth be told, i would like to own both units, but cannot maintain two x/y machines.

Hrm... I am interested.  Does the Tempest work, as in are the game boards good and the cab complete?  I would definitely be interested if the boards are good and the cab is good... though I do not have a vehicle I can move with currently.
