How exactly are you supposed to use the 4-way when it's sitting right on top of the 8-way? Man, that thing is ugly (unless the maker is a member of this board in which case it is very original. Cheers!)

That's the "practically standard" 7 button layout... nothing odd about it at all.  He just arched the buttons, and the angle of the pic makes it look a bit odd.
