Need advice on shipping! Who to use?
« on: November 13, 2005, 12:21:14 pm »
I purchased a cocktail machine and I am now attempting to arrange shipping.  I contacted North American Van Lines to get a quote on shipping from Tenn. to Iowa ( roughly 650-700 miles) and they gave me a quote of $563.  I have never shipped an arcade machine before but this seemed to be extremely costly.

Does anyone have any advice on another carrier to use or should I expect to pay this amount?

Thanks

People that have had arcade machines shipped, who have you used and what did it cost you?  (cocktail or standup?) (distance?)

I haven't done it in a while, but we used Forward Air to ship a few upright games.  The games had to be palletted and you had to pick up the game at their terminal at the airport.  I remember the shipping cost being somewhere around $200.

$563 is alot.

You could drive and make it back with less cost.

I was eying a Tron Cocktail machine on eBay last week (was weighing how much I wanted this machine verses what a divorce would cost if I went ahead and bought it), and the seller told me that he could ship Yellow Freight from Canada to the USA for around $ 200 or so.

the price is MUCH cheaper if you can get them to drop it off at a terminal... and your willing to pick it up at a terminal also.

But my first one was in the 300 range.
