Torture doesn't work. The intelligence it provides is almost always bad... Why do you think evidence obtained through torture techniques is prohibited in every single U.S. court of law?

Simple. Because it's often false, and a complete waste of time. People being tortured will often tell the torturer anything they want to hear (rather than the truth), simply to stop the torture. There are FAR more productive interrogation techniques, leaving torture for the sadists and dictators. Not America.

Furthermore, all it serves to do is justify (and encourage) the further torture of our own people, if captured, and removes America's moral standing against the use of torture the world over. Supporting torture is supporting the use of it against our own troops.

If you are ok with torture, then you are ok with American troops being beheaded and beaten to death. No way around it.

Thought this was pretty funny. Watch White House Press Secretary Scotty "Baby Face" McClellan get absolutely grilled about U.S. support for torture. Of course he denies everything, spins until he's dizzy, and basically calls the reporters unAmerican for even dare ask the question.

It's naive to think that extremists and terrorists will lay down their weapons and embrace Americans by being nice to them.  I am not advocating torture - these people do not respond to it.  These people are only interested in the extermination of non-muslims.  They are not open to compromise.

I always find it funny how liberals make fun of FOX.  They have CNN and 99% of every other news organization as well as just about every single newpaper, oh and lets not forget the real thinkers (HOLLYWOOD) on their side and we have one station and AM radio and they go crazy and talk about how FOX is biased and the right owns the media...GEESH sad really.

I guess when they look at FOX's ratings they get nervous.

CNN is often considered as right wing US propaganda in Europe    They always favor the US side of the story. Maybe it's not so much right wing, but more nationalistic, but nationalism is usually somehting found in the right wing.

But then "we" consider the democrats as an "extreme" right wing party too.

however flicking between the two (UK / US) it is very noticable that the US news channels are seriously dumbed down, and also never seem to tell the full story (if it does not look good for america)

in truth I only ever watch the american news to see what B/S you guys are being fed now

Funny, the reason that you watch American news is the same exact reason that I read the news from Europe.  Me and some guys from work always joke about what the articles say on the BBC news website.  You read your propaganda, I'll read mine 


As for Fox being honest about being conservative, that is true if you are watching the opinion shows, no one hides who they are on the opinion shows, that is why they are opinion shows, if you watch the regular news you will be hard pressed to find bias while they going over the news.  You might find something once and a blue moon, and I'm sure the usual suspects here will point that out to you.  But if I was to list all the bias on the other stations that happen everyday, I would be booted from this site for posting too much information.

I'm speaking of the US version of FOX, not sure how the Fox news is set up overseas.

Being slightly to the right of YOUR views is so far removed from being conservative, it's laughable.  It's the inability to grasp this and acknowledge it that makes you look like a kook.  Even patrickl understands the difference between views, and how he's considered "right-leaning" in his country.

And in your crusades, you advocate getting your news from "many different sources", which I'm assuming you're intellectually honest enough to admit that are liberal.  I do agree with you on one point.  Having a single network (that anyone with half a brain could see is conservative) with a conservative bent is anything BUT "Fair and Balanced".

Even if one accepts the premise that FoxNews is biased (which I do not), then Fox is simply an island of conservatism in a sea of liberalism.  Of course this island has better ratings and more accurate information than the sea, but that is a different matter.
