Remember this cabinet - swappable controls?
« on: January 22, 2003, 06:37:16 pm »
Instead of swapping the whole panel, just the little square around the joysticks could be removed.  Also the buttons had their own square that could be changed.

I'm looking to do something similar, but I can't seem to find the site.  If anyone remembers off hand let me know!  I started looking at every example (I know it's in there) but on a regular modem, it's just too much!

Thanks!

That's the site I got my idea from. The only change I made was that I didn't like the slot you had to cut in the center of the rails to mount the controls.

I didn't like the fact that you had to pull the centetr control any time you needed to swap ANY control. and what if you wanted to mount a really big control (steering wheel, fligh yoke, etc.?

So, I left the rails intact, and drilled a whole near each corner of each control pod. I attached the clamps with a double nutted screw (one before and one after the clamp), through each hole.

So I drop the control pod in place and use a screwdriver to turn the clamp s under the rail. Just reverse to remove.

Actually I don't have ANY digital pics of my cab. :'(
I'll see if I can't find my Polaroid, snap off a few and scanthem in. I'm afraid they will be pretty poor quality, though.
