4 player CP's
« on: January 20, 2003, 04:29:28 pm »
Can I ask how wide the CP is for all you folks with a 4-player CP ?

The layout of the players Im thinking of works out at being appx 1.40m wide at its widest point (4'7") which is enormous.

Does anyone have plans for a 4-player CP ? Ive looked thru lots of the example projects on the site, and not had any luck finding some -- though there are so many, its possible ive missed the ones that have them.

almost 5 feet wide? Wow. I thought my 42" wide CP was big...  I have 3" trackball and four players side to side on mine.

My 4 player CP is about 1.2m wide (47") which seemed really big until I put it infront of the TV.  The TV has the speakers either side of the screen which will make the cab fairly wide to start with.  The CP only sticks out a small amount each side.  Plus I was able to get the joysticks aligned the same (for dual stick games) and there should be enough room for everyone to play comfortably (although this part is yet to be tested)

Cheers

I am amazed at the efficiency you are all able to achieve! My 2-player panel is 900mm, which is what - around 3 feet!

(sorry - if that's not big then feel free to cut be down with measurements of your own monstrosities   ;D  )

My 4player cab is pretty basic
4 joysticks 6 buttons each.. (2 rows of 3) plus 4 buttons on top for player starts and 4 hidden insert coin buttons under the CP. It's 38" wide.. I would have liked to make it wider but it would have been way out of proportion to the rest of the cab and goofy.  Once I get a digital camera I'll put some pics up. (still a work in progress)

The cabinet I'm currently building also has a CP of 1.2m. At first I thought it might be too wide but when I made a mock up out of cardboard it suited it well.

Hi guys,

I am considering making two seperate 1-player control panels to hook up to my (soon to be completed) 2 player one. These will act as players 3 and 4.

I was wondering, as I see a lot of 4-player set-ups with six buttons per-person - how many 3-4 player games actually use them?

My plan would have 4 buttons to make sure things like D&D were covered. I can't actually think of any games that would use more than that!

Please let me know before I make some mistake!

How many? Probably slim to none...  but what's the extra cost.. 2-3 bucks per player(3&4)?  at least then they will look a little more uniform.. and you could future proof yourself a little more? hehe  also some console games might support it, but not sure...

I agree, more than 4 buttons for players 3 & 4 may seem overkill, but the way I am looking at it, next gen consoles will be emulated soon, which will require more than 4 buttons.  I went a little overkill...  My 4 player panel (loosely based on the SlikStik QuadStik) has eight buttons per player...  Overall dimensions are 48"x22".

Put on a cabinet with a 27" TV, and it seems normal.

OMG!!!!! That is one of the most awesome panels I have ever seen!!!!!!! (oh yeah - the cab is *ok* too!)

True Silverwind - Long live guardian heroes on the Saturn!!!!! Has anyone made (or seen) a 6 player panel? <throat gurgling, homer-esque sound>..... mmmm....Guardian Heroes......

<shakes head to get back to reality>

Seriously, I don't think I would treat my most beloved Saturn with such disrespect as to take it to parties so the most people would be four anyways.

gb

p.s - godddammmm!! that is a nice panel - Madk - how did you enlarge those pictrures so well and how big was your file when you sent it to print. And what did you print it on!
