Can someone help with ipac4 config?
« on: October 27, 2005, 03:30:51 am »
Hi all, have my cab up and running (thank the good lord :) ) But im running into issues with programing my ipac4.  I understand how to use the program to assign certian key presses to certian buttons but those buttons are incorrect in mame from where I want them.  Is there a list somewhere of what mame's default settings are for a 4 player cp?

Basicly I guess im looking for a list that says something like this

MAME
PLAYER 1 button 1 =A
Player 1 button 2 =B
Player 1 button 3 =C

I hope this makes sense to some people, Ive tried searching but im not exactly sure what im searching for or how to phrase it.  I read thru mame's web page and the only thing I found was a list of thier default settings for the system controls (if that was a complete list it would be perfect!)

Any help would be appriciated

MAME doesn't have default settings beyond P1 Button 1-10, P2 Button 1-4, and P3 directionals.

The default I-PAC4 config will match these, but the P3 directionals will conflict with the P2 B5-8.

Beyond this, you are on your own, and it's simply a matter of assigning keys in both MAME and the I-PAC4 so you don't have duplicates.

Thanks tiger-heli, ok now for the noob question of the week.  How do I assign buttons in mame?  I cant find a config/ini file that list buttons and I dont see an option on the GUI?

From within Mame, you hit the TAB key and it pulls up the menu.  You can change it for a specific game or for all games.

The options say:

Input (general)
Input (this game)
