Anyone have a new 72 pin connector for NES for sale?
« on: October 25, 2005, 10:53:50 am »
Just wondering is anyone is selling these or know where to get one fairly cheap....all the online stores sell them pretty cheap, but the shipping is outrageous.

I would also like to know where I could get some new 72 pin connectors for cheap. I need about 5 or 6 of them.

forbiddenlyrics-- If we could find a website that charges a flat shipping rate regardless of the amount of items purchased, we could go in together and split the shipping costs......if anyone else is interested, you could join in too.

I have a NES that has been sitting in my closet for years i'd like to get up and running soon so i'll have something to do this winter when i can't be outside  ;D

Changing the connector won't accomplish that, it will just change the problem.

Get some fine grit sandpaper and sand the contacts... then clean with alcohol.  Cleaning works a lot better than a new connector with the wrong pin tension.

Look online for PIN RESTORATION. works the best.

So you're saying all i need to do is clean my existing pins and then that will get rid of the "yellow/blinking screen"?  It has nothing to do with bent pins?

I can't find anything online by searching "NES Pin Restoration"...do you have any links?  Thanks!

Thanks for that link!  I'm gonna try to re-bend and clean the existing pins first...if that doesn't work, then i'll get a new connector.

I don't think i'm gonna go as far as breaking apart a game genie and resoldering stuff and modifying things.  If worse comes to worse, i'll buy one of those new model NES's i've seen on websites, they look interesting to say the least.

Thanks for the help.

don't do the rebend thing unless you absolutely have to do it... the odds of perfectly rebending 72 times in a row, with no mistakes, are really low.
