for awhile during the snes years, i had an awesome ascii pad turbo controller. it's ability was unrivaled. the turbo was simply excellent. when i got a n64, i had a sharkpad pro. it was invaluable for high scores in starfox 64. great turbo speed as well, easily comparable to the ascii pad of the snes. next i got the psx, and eventually picked up a very nice piranha pad with turbo once again keeping up with my standard (the ascii pad of the snes.) as the ps evolved, it got dual shocks/analog capable. the piranha pad lacked any dual shocks and analog. while the pad was possibly unparalleled in the turbo department for the psx, i wanted the analog capability and a great turbo function. so i set out to find one. i picked up a pelican something or other. while it had a turbo function...it was less than stellar. (while the piranha could boost even the early GFs in FFVIII to the full 255 with some time to spare, the pelican could only get around 175ish-halfway nearly-before time ran out. its speed was probably only maybe a third of any other turbo pads i've picked up. now if one is buying a pad with turbo...they want one that can go turbo, not jog, thus the pelican never really saw the light of day. years later, the piranha decided to die. i ended up replacing the controller port connector with a regular psx pad connector. it worked for a few days, then died again.
i considered using my last spare ps controller (no shocks/analog) plus i'm noticing a couple of auctions on ebay for more new ones cheaply, but i'm wondering if there's another pad out there with great turbo speed with an analog control to boot. dual shocks aren't important, but i'm not sure you can get one without the other anyway, so that point is probably moot.
any suggestions? preferably i'd only like people with experience with turbo controllers to respond, (the more experience you've had, the better)...not just conjecture or hearing from a friend or reading from a review.
it matters not whether it's a ps1 or 2 controller. they're interchangable anyway. but ps1 generation pads are cheaper!
