Xbox Controls?
« on: January 19, 2003, 05:04:33 pm »
I've searched and searched.  Does anyone know anything about hacking a xbox controller?  I heard that the psx2>xbox converter only works on analog sticks.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hey man all I know is that the madcatz controller is one that is pretty easy to hack. I would just do a search on yahoo.com. Also are you sure that it only works with the analogs, I hope not cause I am going to buy an X-Box soon then mod it to play FBA-X, that is going to be so cool. Now if it could only go online ;D . Thanx.

Can someone give a definitive answer on this: All X-Box controllers have analog sticks and buttons. I have heard people say there is no point in connecting switch controls as the games need analog, and I have also heard of others doing (or planning to do) just that.
What is the situation here?

I have heard people say there is no point in connecting switch controls as the games need analog,

Best way is to get psx to x-box converter and you can use your joystick for most games that ACTUALLY needs a joystick.

It goes like this...you can play tekken 4 on your ps2 with a non dual shock hacked gamepad and the game WILL start.but if you try to even start a game like silent hill 2 with digital gamepad and the game wont start and it will say "must have dual shock analog pad".

so similer things go for the box too.Certain games will start using converter+digital pad and won force you too use analog gamepad.

as for madcatz pad..its really simple to hack one of these..you can also leave the pad intact and solder in places inside the PCB(trace the contacts).

I also didnt really understand what you were asking Andy(not quite sure :-\ but i am trying to help of course)

You CAN hack a analog pad with with digital type controls, the only problem is gonna be that they will no longer be analog..obviously, but since as far as i know all fighting games dont use the buttons as analog (if fact i cant think of ANY games that makes good use of analog buttons).

Did you mean digital or analog? Analog is required for braking or accelerating in most xbox racing games. You need the variable control that analog provides.
