WTB: Sega Hang-on controls
« on: October 21, 2005, 01:01:05 am »
I'm looking for steering controls for Sega's Hang-on. I need the brake lever, twist grip, and plastic cowling with the fake guages. I could also use a working boardset if anyone has one laying around.
Thanks!

Watch eBay for the controls...  They usually end up fairly cheap with no bidders - the shipping's usually the killer.  If you don't need the bars themselves, you might be able to talk the seller into stripping them and shipping the smaller bits - should save some money that way.  Brake / accel cables seem to be the worst parts to come by - if you don't need those, you should be able to get the rest pretty easily.

I'm just finishing up resto-MAMEing a Hang-On and have two boardsets that are supposed to be working (per the previous owner), though I had no opportunity to test them as the monitor in my machine was hosed (which is why I ended up going the MAME route - got ahold of some cheap 20" PC monitors).  One was in the machine, the other was with a box of parts I got with the thing when I bought it.  If you want them, I'd be willing to let them go cheap - they're just taking up space in my closet right now.

I have a set of sound boards for hang-on if you are interested. They are untested, so make an offer accordingly if you are interested.

i don't know if you saw my response to the differences between controls or not, but just a reminder before you spend money on a super hang-on control...there is a difference.
Also there is a guy from IL that posted on a newsgroup that is selling his cab for $20....bad boardset but he may sell the control from it...or at least maybe the mounting plate. That'll allow you to swap plates so a superhang-on control will fit the hang-on cabinet. I am awaiting an answer from him on the monitor he is selling seperately.
As for a boardset. this guy is only 15 miles from me.

Thanks for the replys. I decided not to try an adapt super hang-on controls onto my machine and just wait for the right ones. I emailed the guy on usenet and I hope I can buy the controls and just give away the cab to someone on these boards.
