Optipac delay when switching between trackball and spinner...
« on: October 18, 2005, 06:12:17 pm »
I am torn on whether or not I like the feature of the Optipac of 'locking' you into one of either the trackball or the spinner for several seconds.  I guess I see the benefit of preventing you from accidentally hitting the spinner while playing a game with the trackball resulting in unintended movement, but all too often I will play a trackball game and between levels or at some pause in the game, the spinner is bumped and then I am locked into it for several seconds (usually resulting in my death haha).  If there were no delay I could immediately continue playing, despite the occasional bump on the spinner during gameplay or whatever.  Is there an easy way to turn off the delay just so I can see which of the two I like better?

Not to my knowledge :(

Not exactly what you want, but you could wire the trackball & spinner to the same input, and use a physical switch to select one or the other.  Oscar had a tutorial of how to do this on his site for his hacked mouse boards - the same principal would apply.

I think so . . .

The delay is implemented between the rotary and trackball inputs on the same port, so assuming you have one trackball and one spinner, you could wire the trackball to the Player 1 Trackball inputs and the Spinner to the Player 2 Trackball inputs (or rotary and rotary) and I think it will do what you want.

Cool, I hadn't thought of or tried that...sounds like it should work.

Yes that would work. You can wire to the other player.
