CP button spacing
« on: October 17, 2005, 09:52:48 am »
I'm trying to layout my CP buttons and it will have just a minimal number of buttons. I'll have 4 buttons in a square format with the bottom row being offset to the right a little bit.

My question is what is the standard spacing between the center's of 2 buttons? I had initially thought that 1.5" but on paper that seems to be a liitle too much. I don't have my buttons on hand yet to test out a cardboard pattern.

1.5" is pretty standard IIRC.  Remember the bezel of the button overhangs the hole making the gap between buttons less.

Tightest buttons on any of my cabinets are 1.5" (and all of my 6-button layouts).  I wouldn't consider going tighter than that ... would be painful to mount the buttons.

Cheers.

I go 1-3/8" on all my buttons.
That puts them just shy of touching.
That spacing feels more natural to me than the 1-1/2".

Mounting them isn't really an issue if you get the nuts hand-tight, and then turn the button itself (using the prongs that hold the switch) while holding the nut in place.
You have to figure out where to start tightening, if you want the switches all oriented the same way, but it's not hard at all.
