Connect coin mech to keyboard hack
« on: October 13, 2005, 08:24:36 am »
Hi,

I have a question for all those experienced people over here :)

My jukebox application with which the coin mech should work is waiting for a circuit to get closed. Let's say it gives me 2 wires and when I stick them together, a credit is added. Now the coin mech should take over de circuit-closing but I do not really know how, since there's only one coin output on the mech. So I can stick one wire to the mech, but where should I stick the second in order to close the circuit?

Anybody familiar with this?

Thanks,
Marcel

Pics of what you're trying to connect to would be useful...  A complete coin acceptor assembly should include a microswitch similar to those used on pushbuttons to which you would connect your wires.

Well OK maybe my question was not quite clear.
My coin selector (ordered at Ultimarc.com) has a 12V + Ground input.
When a coin is accepted the coin signal wire sends a 12V pulse.

Now I have to attach the 12V coin pulse AND the ground wire to a keyboard hack, so that it generates a keystroke which causes a credit added on my jukebox appliocation.

But I think there

Just use a relay that will make a closed circuit when it sees the 12v.

Easy stuff and cheap too.

When the 12v pulse is fed to the relay, the relay will close.  You use the two poles that close on the relay when that occurs to attach to the key board hack.
