problem running games
« on: October 08, 2005, 10:24:47 pm »
Hey I am using teh lateset MAMEWAH, and the latest mame, I have a sony arcade  mointor using an s-video hook up and a video card with TV out s-video.  I am waiting on anew cable for my AVGA card.  ANyway, i can load all games to my list on mamewah, however when i start some (most) game the screen goes blank.  Now you can to the "left right" joystick thing and i can hear the games, so i know they have loaded, i just cannot see them to play.  Now some games play fine (gaunlet).   I am really confused here.  I ran teh MAMEWAH Res tool and it did nothing to help.  ANy ideas here??  Like i said when i get my new cable for my monitor i am going to switch back to my AVGA card and see if that will work, but until then i would like to play packman and galaga, and cannot due to the blank screen.  Please let me know if you guys have any thoughts here as i have tried everything to get this to work.
Thanks a bunch to everyone on this board, the information here is SOOOO USEFULL, and the people are incrediable!!!!!!!!!!

Try enabling safelaunch in your emulator ini settings, or if that doesnt have any effect disable the "hide windows" feature - that gave me some problems when I first started using mamewah.

Hey thanks for the info, would safelaunch be in the mame ini or the mamewah ini?  Also where the heck is the hide windows thing you are talking about?  I did look for that and could not find it.  Thanks for the help!

For safelaunch, go to your emulator ini file (in the mamewah\ini directory) and change the {nosafelaunch} part of the commandline_format option to {safelaunch}

If that doesn't fix it, you can enable safe mode by opening up the mamewah.ini file in the root of your mamewah folder and change the safe_mode value from 0 to 1.

Good luck!
